Founded in 1949 on £100 capital, Vitafoam started its original operation manufacturing latex foam products in Oldham, Greater Manchester. After establishing the business, the company made a major move to its current site in Middleton, Manchester in 1955, acquiring two empty former cotton mills to cope with increased demand.
Vita’s Comfort UK is part of The Vita Group, one of Europe’s leading flexible foam solutions providers. Our UK division manufactures and converts polyurethane foam focusing on bedding, upholstery, and medical markets.
Vita’s Comfort UK consists of a foaming block CPT plant in Middleton, two conversion sites in Dukinfield and Bedford, a shockpad and underlays unit in Middleton and a non-polyurethane site based in the UK.
One of the primary facilities is our high-tech Innovation Centre at Middleton, equipped to perform product testing activities such as multi-layer, durability, microclimate and spinal alignment testing, unique to us, this facility allows us to work with customers directly to assure we provide exactly what they need. We have conversion sites, in Dukinfield and Bedford that fabricate and cut products to customers’ requirements and specifications. This involves operations such as rotary slitting, computer-controlled profiling, fabrication and cushion manufacturing.
Our Bedding Innovation Centre, located in the UK, enables customers to become development partners in creating a healthy/unique sleep experience while improving durability and researching the key requirement of sustainability.
We are passionate about sustainability and have the drive to work towards a circular economy. We are achieving this through tough ESG targets and innovations which included moving away from traditional petrol chemical feedstocks.
